The pencil was my whole working life long my working medium. Naturally then it was without a rubber. I worked after my business apprenticeship as a secretary in several firms, finally for the Union of German ironworkers in Düsseldorf. I travelled there every day by bus from Solingen.

With the pencil I have written shorthand, that is letters from dictation in shorthand script. At that time I could write 300 syllables per minute, which was very fast.

The work gave me a lot of pleasure.
